Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Joshua Sambol ("we", "us") handles information in the Lax App ("Lax App", the "App"). Lax App is built privacy-first: nearly everything happens on your device, and we don't run user accounts or sell your data.

The short version

• Your camera, microphone, and session recordings are processed on your device and are never uploaded to us.
• Your sessions, stats, profile, and replays are stored locally on your iPhone.
• The only information that leaves your device is a one-time signup entry (your first name and how you heard about us) and your subscription status through Apple.
• No ads, no third-party tracking SDKs, no selling of data.

Information processed on your device

• Camera & microphone. Lax App uses the front camera to track the ball and stick and the microphone to detect the ball hitting the wall. This processing happens live, on-device, and is not recorded or transmitted to us.
• Session recordings (replays). Each session is screen-recorded and saved locally so you can rewatch it. Replays stay on your device unless you choose to save one to your Photos library or share it.
• AI coach. Coaching and workout suggestions are generated by Apple's on-device foundation models. Your prompts and training data are processed on your iPhone and are not sent to us or to a server.
• Your profile & stats. Your name, dominant hand, session results, and goals are stored locally on your device.

Information that leaves your device

• Signup entry. When you finish onboarding, the first name you entered and your answer to "How did you hear about us?", along with a timestamp, are sent once to a spreadsheet we use to understand where new users come from. Please avoid entering sensitive information as your name.
• Subscriptions. Purchases and subscription status are handled by Apple through the App Store. We (and our subscription provider, RevenueCat, if enabled) receive your subscription status and anonymous purchase identifiers to unlock Pro features — never your card details.

Permissions we request

• Camera and Microphone — required to run a session.
• Screen Recording — to capture your session replay.
• Photos (add only) — only used if you tap "Save to Device" to save a replay.

You can change these any time in iOS Settings. Denying camera or microphone access will stop sessions from running.

Data retention & your choices

Because your data lives on your device, you're in control of it. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data. Inside the app, Settings → Delete All Data permanently erases your profile, sessions, and replays. The signup entry described above cannot be tied back to you and is retained for analytics; contact us if you'd like it removed.

Children

Lax App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
